Rod La Rocque promotional signed (printed) photo
Rod La Rocque (November 29, 1898 – October 15, 1969) played The Shadow in the 1937 Grand National Pictures production "The Shadow Strikes". This is a rare "fan photo", with a printed signature and dedication, which would be sent to fans who wrote to the studio, and is printed on heavy stock, not on flimsy paper, which happened very often. Assuming that in the photo La Rocque would be in his late twenties/early thirties and that he stopped appearing in films in 1941, we could place this between somewhere between 1927 and 1941.
Flyer for "The Shadow Strikes" (Re-release, 1951)
Single-sided sheet printed by Victor Cornelius to promote 1951 re-release of the 1937 film that starred Rod LaRoque as Lamont Cranston/The Shadow with Lynn Anders as his female lead. Text at bottom reads “Its Movietime, U.S.A. - Celebrating The Golden Jubilee Of The American Movie Theatre.”
Here you can read the a Palm Beach Post article from September 30, 1951, with the full lineup of the films being shown. "The Shadow Strikes" doesn't seem to be part of it, but lineups always change, even today.
